“… What stands out in my mind is how skillfully and beautifully she handles the diverse tones and moods on this album, and how well she is both faithful to the original folk sound while bringing her own special interpretive insight. She is blessed with both ‘natural’ talents, and the skills of a highly thoughtful, intelligent, and well-practiced singer-songwriter…” – http://www.tunedloud.com/2019/04/15/roberta-france-baby-im-a-lady-deeply-personal-and-broadly-universal/

“Baby, I’m a Lady has a memorable groove that is clearly spawned by Roberta’s depth of musical experience from a cultural perspective. This is one pop song that will pull you out of a bad mood. The video is practical, witty, and carries a dose of artistic sarcasm. Certainly, its practicality is praiseworthy. It’s all about the vibe and that’s the only way a woman can be understood as seen in Baby, I’m a Lady.” – https://warlockasyluminternationalnews.com/2019/03/25/roberta-france-has-got-the-vibe-with-her-new-single-baby-im-a-lady/

Fusing jazz, folk, and funk with a real sense of fun,” Kaleidoscope Stars “is a collection of spiraling spunky tunes to bring some sunshine into your day. ‘Get Up And Go’ kicks the album off in a suitably upbeat fashion, and comes into its own When the chorus kicks in. Heading in a softer direction, ‘Tonight’ is a romantic, moonlit track with a characterful bass-line and Roberta’s vocal giving a nod to The Sundays ‘Harriet Wheeler.’ You’re Not Alone ‘features a powerful Ricardo sax intro and uses funky rhodes to good effect, with an adventurous vocal That scales great heights and Reaches its goal each time. Roberta France voice is engaging – unique enough to stand out from the crowd, while portatili fit comfortably into a specific jazz-funk setting without feeling contrived or forced. Musically, the album covers a lot of bases, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, folk, and even world music. ‘Chamber, (Lipstick), Action!’ shows the world music aspect well, with an eastern European vibe That slips to reggae groove in through the backdoor. Possibly the most touching moment on Kaleidoscope Stars is the beautifully fragile ‘Broken Sphere’, where Roberta’s voice adds texture and color to a track. That ultimately explodes into a firework display of musical celebration “By: Chris Marsh http://skopemag.com/2014/06/10/roberta-de-francia-kaleidoscope-stars
… It starts on a playful & melodic vibe with all kinds of vibrant, exotic flavors in the music bursting out brightly. I found myself instantly attached to the music and the unique rhythm and pulse within it…it’s captivating stuff, right from the drop of the first song “Get Up And Go.”
Now as for Roberta herself…again, she’s certainly a fantastic singer and really shines brightly on many moments throughout the album, though I’ll admit in this first tune, it was a combination in sound my ears weren’t quite ready for.
Things calm themselves into a jazzy state pretty quickly, taking the energy down a notch in the second track, “Tonight,” but also bringing out the melody even more. Roberta floats between perfection and imperfections in the vocals throughout the verse with a sense of true freedom; you can tell this is a real artist at work.
Roberta & Ricardo seem limitless in scope; they could take this music anywhere. As “Talking Flowers” plays on, it simply gets stronger and stronger, growing with intense emotion dripping right out of the instruments and notes being played.
…“Broken Sphere,” is a gorgeously melodic, atmospheric and beautifully performed track. Roberta displays a fragility in the verse, accompanied by a perfect clarinet line
There’s almost a swing-meets reggae vibe going on in “Free Mind,” or jazz-meets-reggae on “Serendipity.” You certainly can count on Roberta and Ricardo to bring sounds you’re not hearing pretty much anywhere else….
At the very end, we get the ultimate treat of hearing Roberta sing in her native Italian tongue…it’s gorgeous, has drama and dynamics and leaves a lasting impression on a guy like me. What can I say, I love accents!
But it’s more than that. You can hear Roberta is equally comfortable in both languages, and unafraid to go after each moment in a stylistic & artistic way each time she’s in front of the microphone.
Consider me interested! You know me, I love the combination of art & music together, and that’s exactly what we have here with Roberta & Ricardo.
